Data We Collect
We collect account details such as email, username, display name, password hash, preferred locale, birth year, consent choices, reviews, lists, watch history, notification preferences, and subscription status. At registration we also retain the network IP address and an approximate city, region, country, and time zone derived locally from that address for account security and abuse prevention. IP-based location is approximate and does not identify a street address.
Analytics and Marketing Consent
Analytics and marketing are optional. Your choices are stored server-side and can be changed across devices through the consent controls.
Retention
Account data, including registration network information, is retained while your account exists. Consent and security records are retained according to the published retention schedule and applicable legal obligations. Data-export download links and archives expire after 48 hours. Registration network information is deleted when an account is anonymized. Deleted accounts are anonymized where retention is not legally required.
Third-Party Processors
We use TMDB for media metadata, RevenueCat Billing for subscriptions and payment orchestration, Resend or configured email providers for transactional email, YouTube for video embeds, object storage for private data exports, and Redis/PostgreSQL for application operations.
Your Rights
You can request access, export, deletion, and portability of your data from account settings. You can also object to analytics or marketing processing by disabling consent.
Minors
Cinephilist does not allow account creation by children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 created an account, contact [email protected] so we can delete it.
International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries where our infrastructure and processors operate. We use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the service.
