Lilyan Chauvin photo

Lilyan Chauvin

French character actress Lilyan Chauvin may be one of those actors or actresses whose face you know without knowing their names. Chauvin was a long time veteran of the European stage, and was adept at playing strict, but sometimes loving characters. To horror fans, she might be best known as the sinister Mother Superior in Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984), but her career started back in the 1950s when she was plucked from the stage to appear in small minor roles in motion pictures. One notable film was with John Wayne in North to Alaska (1960). For about thirty years, Chauvin was one of the busiest character actresses in Hollywood, appearing in over forty films as well as on television. Her many film credits include Private Benjamin (1980), Predator 2 (1990), No Place to Hide (1992), Universal Soldier (1992) as Jean-Claude Van Damme's mother, and Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can (2002) with Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Diana Hyland photo

Diana Hyland

Diana Hyland, a striking, knowing beauty with a confident air about her, was born Diane Gentner on January 25, 1936, in Ohio and appeared on stage in summer stock as a teen before graduating from Cleveland Heights High School. Moving to New York in 1955 to test her acting mettle, the slim-faced, honey-blonde actress began to find TV roles almost immediately (one of her first being a "Robert Montgomery Presents" episode) in between supplementing her income as a switchboard operator. Initially billed Diane Gentner, she changed it to Diana Hyland (taking her mother's maiden name). Following a tour of the play "Look Back in Anger," she broke through quite impressively on the Broadway boards as the neurotic ingénue in the acclaimed 1959 Tennessee Williams production of "Sweet Bird of Youth" starring Paul Newman and Geraldine Page. Her role of Heavenly Finley could have made her a film star had she been allowed to take it the big screen, but Shirley Knight was given that honor. In the early 60s, Diana focused on the small screen with strong, emotional roles on such soaps as "Young Dr. Malone" (1958) and "Peyton Place" (1964) (in a particularly showy role as a minister's alcoholic wife). She also scored well in a series of guest parts, notably "The Twilight Zone," "The Fugitive," "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" and "Alcoa Presents," the last for which she received an Emmy nomination. She was a particularly sought-after presence on medical shows as well, spicing up such popular tearjerkers as "Ben Casey," "Dr. Kildare," "The Doctors and the Nurses," "Medical Center" and "Marcus Welby, M.D.". Strangely, Diana made noticeably few films during her career, her best showcase being that of the unconventional minister's wife opposite Don Murray's Rev. Norman Vincent Peale in One Man's Way (1964). In addition to a small, downbeat supporting turn in The Chase (1966) starring Marlon Brando, Robert Redford and, Jane Fonda, she also co-starred with Fess Parker in the routine western yarn Smoky (1966). Remaining focused on TV, Diana continued to brightened up the TV medium into the 1970s with an emphasis on crime ("Kojak, "Harry O", "Cannon," "Mannix," etc.). Kevin Eldon photo

Kevin Eldon

Kevin Eldon is a British Actor, Comedian and Songwriter. He featured in the major British TV comedies of the 1990s including Fist of Fun, Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge, Big Train, Brass Eye and Jam. In 2013, Eldon appeared in his own BBC sketch series It's Kevin. He has also appeared in minor speaking roles in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Eldon was born in Chatham, Kent. He has been a practising Buddhist since 1990. He has two children with his wife Holly, who he met in late 2005 on the set of Hyperdrive, where she was the art director. Eldon occupies half a page in Oliver Gray's book called Volume – A Cautionary Tale of Rock and Roll Obsession; this includes coverage of punk-era Hampshire where, in late 1978, with two schoolmates from Bay House School, Gosport, Eldon started a band named Virginia Doesn't. Virginia Doesn't's career peaked with a session broadcast on Radio One's John Peel Show on 18 October 1979. In early 1980, Virginia Doesn't morphed into The Time, in which Eldon was again the front man. The Time recorded and performed from April 1980 until August 1982, during which time the band gigged extensively and played support slots with The Jam, Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive and Bad Manners. The Time had songs included on several self-released tape compilations, although they never secured a recording contract. In August 1982, The Time became Gerry Hackett & The Fringes, a spoof Sixties revival band. On 6 November 1983 Gerry Hackett & The Fringes appeared on BBC South's 'The Cellar Show' presented by John Sessions. Eldon started on the stand-up circuit in the early 1990s performing an act in-character as the political poet Paul Hamilton, but has also, on occasion, done stand-up as himself. On the circuit, Eldon formed a friendship with stand-up comedian Stewart Lee, which would later lead to an invitation to work with him on the radio series Lee & Herring's Fist of Fun with Lee's comedy partner Richard Herring. Lee and Herring would usually refer to him as "the actor Kevin Eldon", in reference to his claim to being an actor rather than a comedian. Eldon's work sat well with that of Lee and Herring, and he continued to work with them on many of their projects, including The Lee & Herring Radio Show, Fist of Fun and This Morning with Richard Not Judy. He played recurring characters Simon Quinlank (the self-styled "King of Hobbies") and 'Rod Hull', a nonsensical version of Rod Hull with a prosthetic limb and an obsession with jelly, especially the 'green' variety. In 1994 and 1997, he appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as part the comedy troupe Cluub Zarathustra; other comedians in the troupe including Roger Mann, Johnny Vegas, Simon Munnery, and later Stewart Lee. They were given a Channel 4 pilot, which led to the television series Attention Scum! The book You Are Nothing by Robert Wringham praises the performers' talent. From March 2009, Eldon appeared in Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle in a number of the show's sketches most often with Paul Putner.

Arnold Stang photo

Arnold Stang

Arnold Stang (September 28, 1918 – December 20, 2009) was an American comic actor who played a small and bespectacled, yet brash and knowing big-city type. One of the most arresting facts about Arnold Stang is that he is perfectly happy with the role of Gerard on NBC's Henry Morgan Show. Unlike many actors and comedians who have climbed to fame with one particular role, Stang isn't afraid of becoming "typed." The small, economy-size, Arnold twenty-eight-year-old comic, who has been likened to a near-sighted chipmunk dragged out of the rain, has dispensed laughs on shows with many top comedians; yet every time he appears on a new television show, he points out with dismay, both the critics and the public "suddenly recognize me as 'fresh new talent.' Stang's career in show business began at a radio audition when he was eleven. Wearing heavy horn-rimmed eyeglasses and speaking in a voice somewhere between a quaver and a croak, Arnold began a serious recitation for the directors. They could not take him seriously. When they had recovered from spasms of laughter, they signed him up on the spot for a comic role, a "type" of role which Stang has been handling ever since.

Grant Feely photo

Grant Feely

Cast · Known for Five Nights at Freddy's

Grant Feely was born in Brunswick, Georgia in October 15, 2011. At seven years old, he watched the show Stranger Things and was interested in the behind-the-scenes material. He wanted to be a part of that world, so he decided to become an actor. Star Wars: The Mandalorian was the only Star Wars content that Feely had seen. In April, 2021, Feely's agent sent him the audition for a role. He then filmed an audition for "Boy - Untitled Disney+ Series," not knowing the role was for the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, and he did not think anything of it. A week later, he had an hour-long Zoom callback with Carmen Cuba, the casting director for Obi-Wan Kenobi. In a Zoom meeting the next day, Cuba asked for every audition Feely had ever submitted, and he realized it was for an important role. In early June, he had a director's callback with director Deborah Chow. When he was in Hawaii during the end of June, he was asked if he could come to Los Angeles. He was not able to go, so they flew him to LA to do an in-person audition with Chow. In early July, Chow called Feely to offer him the role of Luke Skywalker. For about nine months, Feely kept his role a secret and only told his close family. Feely wanted to do research for his portrayal, but Chow told him to not watch any Star Wars movies so that he could act like a regular boy instead of how Mark Hamill played Skywalker in the original trilogy. Chow explained that Skywalker does not learn about the Force until he's around twenty years old. Feely said that crafting was his favorite part of being on set. He was not told anything about Skywalker or any other characters in the series. Feely made a connection with Joel Edgerton, the actor who played Owen Lars. During filming, Chow instructed Feely how to film a certain shot, and Edgerton translated the instructions into something Feely understood. When the rock scene of Skywalker being chased by the Inquisitor Reva was being filmed, Feely was in a harness running along the top of the set. The crew wanted to see how far he could run on a certain wire, so they instructed the actor to step on a boulder a few feet away. The harness pulled Feely back very fast, which scared the crew and delighted Feely. When Feely and Moses Ingram, the actor who played Reva, were waiting in the cast room, Ingram told him that he could ask the props department if he could see a lightsaber. Feely and his mom walked to the props department and Feely was given a red lightsaber. The lightsaber was changed to blue and Feely was photographed with it in different poses. Feely's favorite part about playing the character was the connections and the experience. Feely watched all of the Star Wars movies after filming the series and became a big fan.

She did not realize her love for the theater until her Freshman year in high school when a classmate, set to direct a one-act play, asked her to play a role in it. She went from not knowing what she wanted to do, to seeing the rest of her life. After attending Howard University’s Fine Arts Department and receiving her BFA, she moved back to New Jersey and worked in New York theater for 13 years, as well as working in films as an extra, and in soaps, and commercials. After the seminar, she made the leap to leave New Jersey and move to Florida in the hopes of obtaining an agent and a SAG card and taking that back to New Jersey. But after a time of steadily increasing work in Industrials, television, voiceover, films, and theater; as well as trying her hand at directing theatrical productions – she has made Florida home. But, in her heart, she is still from New Jersey! Along the way, she has put together a business building and maintaining websites, filming actors’ auditions and sending them to the proper casting offices, and holding classes teaching others how to audition in front of the camera – and how to film auditions as well.

Yakov Smirnoff photo

Yakov Smirnoff

Yakov Naumovich Pokhis (Russian: Яков Наумович Похис; born 24 January 1951), better known as Yakov Smirnoff (Russian: Яков Смирнов; /ˈsmɪərnɒf/), is a Ukrainian-American comedian, actor and writer of Jewish origin. He began his career as a stand-up comedian in Ukraine, then immigrated to the United States in 1977 in order to pursue an American show business career, not yet knowing any English. He reached his biggest success in the mid-to-late 1980s, appearing in several films and the television sitcom vehicle What a Country!. His comic persona was of a naive immigrant from the Soviet Union who was perpetually confused and delighted by life in the United States. His humor combined a mockery of life under communism and of consumerism in the United States, as well as word play caused by misunderstanding of American phrases and culture, all punctuated by the catchphrase, "And I thought, 'What a country!'" The collapse of communism starting in 1989, and the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, brought an end to Smirnoff's widespread popularity, although he continued to perform. In 1993, he began performing year round at his own theater in Branson, Missouri, where he remained until 2015. He occasionally still performs limited dates at his theater in Branson while touring worldwide. Smirnoff earned a master's degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and a doctorate in psychology and global leadership from Pepperdine University in 2019. He has also taught a course titled "The Business of Laughter" at Missouri State University and at Drury University.
