The Last Ship

Ispirata all’omonimo romanzo di William Brinkley, seguiamo le avventure del capitano Tom Chandler (Eric Dane), che è da qualche mese in missione nell’Artico, sull’incrociatore Nathan James della Marina. Con lui a bordo ci sono il comandante Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) e un nutrito equipaggio, a cui si sono aggiunti la dottoressa Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) e il suo collega Quincy Thopet (Sam Spruell), due paleomicrobiologi. I loro studi sugli uccelli sembrano attirare l’attenzione dei russi, che non esitano a fare fuoco sui malcapitati. Chandler scopre che la realtà è molto più complicata del previsto: ogni comunicazione con le alte sfere sembra impossibile, lo studio dei due dottori è su una forma particolarmente aggressiva di virus, che sembra stia decimando la popolazione, e la loro ricerca potrebbe essere l’ultima speranza per salvare quello che resta del mondo. Tom e i suoi uomini potrebbero essere tra i pochi sopravvissuti al virus. E non è che l’inizio.

Eric William Dane (nato Eric William Melvin; 9 novembre 1972 – 19 febbraio 2026) è stato un attore americano. Dopo diversi ruoli televisivi negli anni '90 e 2000, incluso il ruolo ricorrente di Jason Dean in Charmed, uno dei suoi ruoli più noti è stato quello del Dr. Mark Sloan 'Dr. McSteamy' nel dramma medico ABC Grey's Anatomy (2006–2012; 2021). Ha inoltre interpretato il Capitano Tom Chandler nella serie TNT The Last Ship (2014–2018), Cal Jacobs nella serie drammatica HBO Euphoria (2019–2026) e l'agente speciale dell'FBI Nathan Blythe nella serie poliziesca Countdown (2025) di Amazon Prime Video. È apparso in film come X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), Marley & Me (2008), San Valentino (2010), Burlesque (2010) e Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024). Ad aprile 2025 ha annunciato di essere stato diagnosticato con sclerosi laterale amiotrofica (SLA). Ha detto che i suoi sintomi erano iniziati circa diciotto mesi prima. Rhona Natasha Mitra nasce a Paddington, un distretto di Westminster (Borough di Londra), il 9 agosto 1976, figlia di Anthony Mitra, un chirurgo estetico britannico, figlio di un immigrato indiano, e da Nora Downey, una casalinga irlandese. Ha un fratello maggiore, Jason, e uno minore, Guyan. Dopo il divorzio dei suoi genitori (avvenuto quando aveva 8 anni) Rhona va in collegio dove inizia ad avvicinarsi al mondo dello spettacolo interpretando vari ruoli teatrali.
