Come quando aveva inventato lo spray che creava dal nulla scarpe che aderivano perfettamente al piede dimenticando però di inventare il modo per poterle sfilare. Divenuto adulto, e abitando in un'isola la cui unica produzione fonte di alimentazione sono le sardine, prova ad inventare un marchingegno che trasformi l'acqua in alimenti. Anche in questo caso sembra destinato al fallimento ma quando, per un eccesso di energia, la macchina finisce con l'essere lanciata nel cielo sopra l'isola accade un fatto mai visto prima. I fenomeni atmosferici si trasformano in precipitazioni di cibo. Flint diventa famoso e al suo fianco c'è Sam Sparks, una giornalista addetta alle previsioni meteo di una televisione. Anche lei non è mai stata una vincente e ora si troverà ad affrontare con lui un periodo di gloria che può trasformarsi in disastro.
