Andrew is startled when Tasha says she dropped out of college to travel around the world, without precise plans. The invitation to join her and stop 'trying to please Paul' seems absurd. Paul is tricked into signing what he ignores to be permission for Sophie to attend Syndey conservatory, which he explicitly refused.
