After the January 6 United States Capitol attack, Burns was among those who advanced the idea that people associated with antifa were responsible for the attack. In a 2022 interview with far-right internet personality Stew Peters, Burns called for the arrest of supportive parents of transgender children, comparing them and pro-LGBTQ teachers to the leaders of the Hitler Youth. He further called for their conviction for treason, reminding Peters that the penalty for treason is death. Hwang Jung-min photo

Hwang Jung-min

Cast · Known for Hope

Hwang Jung-min (황정민) is a South Korean actor. He was born on September 1, 1970 and began his career in musical theatre, making his acting debut in Line 1 in 1995. He then starred in various musicals and plays in Daehangno such as "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Cats". Despite a career on stage, Hwang had difficulty transitioning to film. He went through a long struggle for recognition, with people saying he "didn’t have the right face for film." He even considered giving up his dream, but stuck to his conviction about walking the path of acting. Hwang said, "After becoming interested about the stage and how it feels to be that person on stage, I've never thought of anything else. That I never swayed -- that is one thing I can say with confidence." His big break came when he was cast in Waikiki Brothers, a 2001 film that was a sleeper hit in Korea. In his role as a hopeless drummer, Hwang left a strong impression and earned favorable reviews, with director Im Soon-rye calling him "an uncut gemstone." It was in 2005 that Hwang became a household name, portraying a naive farmer in love with an AIDS-stricken prostitute in the hit melodrama "You Are My Sunshine". Hwang explains that he was "moved by the tale of the genuine love between two people. I agreed with the director's idea of showing it as pure love, like an uncut gem, without sloppily adding to it or embellishing it." When he accepted the best actor award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for his performance in You Are My Sunshine, many were moved by his now-famous speech: "All I did was add a spoon to a dinner table that had already been prepared by others."

Jimmie Walker photo

Jimmie Walker

James Carter Walker Jr. (born June 25, 1947), known professionally as Jimmie Walker, is an American actor and comedian. Walker is best known for portraying James Evans Jr. (J. J.), the oldest son of Florida and James Evans Sr. on the CBS television series Good Times which originally ran from 1974–1979. Walker was nominated for Golden Globe awards Best Supporting Actor In A Television Series in 1975 and 1976 for his role. While on the show, Walker's character was known for the catchphrase "Dy-no-mite!" which he also used in his mid–1970s TV commercial for a Panasonic line of cassette and 8-track tape players. He also starred in Let's Do It Again with John Amos, and The Greatest Thing That Almost Happened with James Earl Jones. Walker continues to tour the country with his stand-up comedy routine. In 1967, Walker began working full-time with WRVR, the radio station of the Riverside Church. In 1969, Walker began performing as a stand-up comedian and was eventually discovered by the casting director for Good Times, after making appearances on Rowan & Martin's Laugh In and on the Jack Paar Show. He eventually released one stand-up comedy album during the height of his Good Times popularity: Dyn-o-mite on Buddah Records (5635). During Good Times' 1974–75 season, Walker was 26 years old, though his character was much younger. John Amos, the actor who portrayed Walker's father on Good Times, was actually just eight years older than Walker. Walker credits producer/director John Rich for inventing "Dy-no-mite!" which Rich insisted Walker say on every episode. Both Walker and executive producer Norman Lear were skeptical of the idea, but the phrase and Walker's character caught on with the audience. Also, off- and on-camera, Walker did not get along with series' lead, Esther Rolle, who played Florida Evans, in the series, because she and Amos disapproved of Walker's increasingly buffoonish character and his popularity, and Walker felt hurt by their disdain. Dissatisfaction led Amos (before Rolle), to leave the show, making Walker the star of the show. Walker was the only Good Times star to not attend Rolle's funeral.

Reginald Owen photo

Reginald Owen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia John Reginald Owen (5 August 1887 – 5 November 1972) was an English character actor. He was known for his many roles in British and American films and later in television programmes. The son of Joseph and Frances Owen, Reginald Owen studied at Sir Herbert Tree's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made his professional debut in 1905. In 1911, he starred in the original production of Where the Rainbow Ends as Saint George which opened to very good reviews on 21 December 1911. Reginald Owen had a few years earlier met the author Mrs. Clifford Mills as a young actor, and it was he who on hearing her idea of a Rainbow Story persuaded her to turn it into a play, and thus "Where the Rainbow Ends" was born. He went to the United States in 1920 and worked originally on Broadway in New York, but later moved to Hollywood, where he began a lengthy film career. He was always a familiar face in many Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer productions. Owen is perhaps best known today for his performance as Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1938 film version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a role he inherited from Lionel Barrymore, who had played the part of Scrooge on the radio every Christmas for years until Barrymore broke his hip in an accident. Owen was one of only five actors to play both Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr Watson (Jeremy Brett played Watson on stage in the United States prior to adopting the mantle of Holmes on British television, Carleton Hobbs played both roles in British radio adaptations while Patrick Macnee played both roles in US television films). Howard Marion-Crawford played Holmes in a radio adaptation of "The Speckled Band" and later played Watson to Ronald Howard’s Holmes in the 1954-55 television series. Owen first played Watson in the film Sherlock Holmes (1932), and then Holmes himself in A Study in Scarlet (1933). Having played Ebenezer Scrooge, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Owen has the odd distinction of playing three classic characters of Victorian fiction only to live to see those characters be taken over and personified by other actors, namely Alastair Sim as Scrooge, Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Watson. Later in his career, Owen appeared opposite James Garner in the television series Maverick in the episodes "The Belcastle Brand" (1957) and "Gun-Shy" (1958) and also guest starred in episodes of the series One Step Beyond and Bewitched. He was featured in the Walt Disney films Mary Poppins (1964) and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). He had a small role in the 1962 Irwin Allen production of the Jules Verne novel Five Weeks in a Balloon. In August 1964, his Bel-Air mansion was rented out to the Beatles, who were performing at the Hollywood Bowl, when no hotel would book them.

Rick Macy photo

Rick Macy

Franklyn Richard “Rick” Macy is a veteran actor who has appeared in a number of films that appeal to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which he is also a member. Macy was born on October 18, 1953, and spent much of his youth playing baseball in Oregon where he grew up. He entered Brigham Young University with the intent to study journalism. But after one semester, he became bored with those classes and focused on acting, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1982. Macy has portrayed Joseph Smith Sr. in three movies: Emma Smith: My Story, The Restoration, and Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration. Most recently, he had roles in feature films Brigham City, Ephraim’s Rescue, and Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed. He had roles in films Outlaw Trail: The Treasure of Butch Cassidy, Return to the Secret Garden, Willy the Sparrow, The Butter Cream Gang in Secret of Treasure Mountain, Little Secrets, and Out of Step. He also appeared in television productions, Divided by Hate; Perfect Murder, Perfect Town; Shot in the Heart; and Touched by an Angel. He appeared as Helam in The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd, directed by Kieth Merrill. Of the experience he said: I really had no idea that The Testaments would impact my life so profoundly, but it did. The Book of Mormon segments of that film, shot in Hawaii, took about two months to film. As I strengthened my skills in acting I knew early on that this gift or talent that the Lord had given me would be used for missionary work and as such one tries to live the missionary life so that the Spirit can be with you to do whatever the Lord requires. [The scene where the blinded Helam is healed by Christ] was very poignant for me and, as I found out later, for many of the cast members and visitors that were on the set that day. We were told by one of the General Authorities that, though many of us had great talent in this field, it was not enough. The Lord would have to bless us beyond our natural abilities to do the work that this film meant to do. This last scene in the film was evidence of that very thing. The Lord blessed us with a great outpouring of his spirit. It was and still is very humbling to have been a part of that experience. After shooting that scene, and a couple others that followed, Kieth Merrill took me aside and said, “You realize I’m not the one directing this film, don’t you?” He has taught acting lessons for many years. He had a private workshop called The Actor’s Academy for sixteen years and was a part-time instructor at Pioneer High School for the Performing Arts. He and his wife, Marsha, live in Provo, Utah, and are the parents of three children.

Frank Aletter photo

Frank Aletter

Frank George Aletter (January 14, 1926 – May 13, 2009) was an American actor. For someone who goes only to movie theaters, Frank Aletter is a total stranger. It is true that the actor appeared in no more than a handful of theatrical films (Gerhart in Mister Roberts (1955), a commanding officer in Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), Leigh Jensen in Private School (1983)...). But for a TV fan things are just the opposite, for Aletter was cast in NEARLY ALL the TV series, films, sitcoms and specials shot between 1955 and 1991! In his first life, Frank Aletter had been a regular on Broadway appearing in plays and musicals like "Bells Are Ringing", "Time Limit", "Wish You Were Here" and of course "Mister Roberts", which opened to him the doors of filmed fiction.

HipHop Tamizha Adhi photo

HipHop Tamizha Adhi

Cast · Known for Meesaya Murukku 2

Adhi was born on 20 February 1990 as Adhithya Ramachandran Venkatapathy, while Jeeva was born on 29 June 1991 as Jeeva K.R.S. Adhi was born into a middle-class family with no knowledge in music or cinema; his father works at Bharathiar University while his mother comes from an agricultural background. Adhi came to know of rap music through Michael Jackson's "Jam". His interest in hip hop music started developing when he was in the tenth grade. He would upload rap songs to the internet and got positive response from people expressing interest in listening to more of his music; this encouraged him to start rapping in Tamil, also because he was more comfortable with it. Adhi named his account on the video-sharing site YouTube as "Hiphop Tamizha" with an image of the Tamil poetSubramania Bharati, to avoid being caught by his parents. Adhi's father had initially opposed his idea of choosing music as his career; Adhi himself had no formal education in music. He studied at Chavara Vidya Bhavan, andelectrical engineering at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology. He holds a state-level rank in Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test and is a graduate in Master of Business Administration from Madras University. As of October 2014, he is studying a Ph.D course at Bharathiar University. Adhi first met Jeeva in Orkut in 2005; the latter adopted the moniker "DJ Jeeva Beatz". In 2006, Adhi released Viswaroobam Arambam, considered the first Tamil hip hop mixtape. It also played a major role in promoting hip hop as a part of the Tamil culture. In the same year, he met Yogi B of the Malaysian hip hop group Poetic Ammo, who became Hiphop Tamizha's advisor. "I used to send some of my underground music releases to Yogi, and one day, I received a call from him, but I thought someone was playing a prank on me. It turned out to be him and he encouraged me to start Hiphop Tamizha," recalled Adhi years later. The duo started as underground, until they were asked by the Tamil Nadu Election Commission to compose an election anthem; Adhi never knew how they found the group. Hiphop Tamizha's single "Ezhuvoam Vaa" was eventually chosen as the official anthem for Tamil Nadu's 2011 state elections; though the song was unsuccessful, Adhi and Jeeva considered it at one point their "best work so far". Although Hiphop Tamizha is a duo, Jeeva has seldom made public appearances; Adhi told IndiaGlitz that this is due to his shyness, and compared him to the unseen lion in the emblem of India, which includes four lions, but shows only three. Other independent artists have also collaborated with them, including beatboxer Bharadwaj Balaji (also known as BBB or Triple B) and B-boy Bravo. The official logo of Hiphop Tamizha is a graffiti of Bharati.

Beals graduated from the progressive Francis W. Parker School. She also was chosen to attend the elite Goodman Theatre Young People's Drama Workshop.
