Pierre Edelman photo

Pierre Edelman

Executive Producer · Known for Mulholland Drive

Pierre Edelman (born in 1944) is a French film producer and former actor. In the 1970s, Pierre Edelman worked in a workshop in the Sentier district of Paris, specializing in denim. He became a collaborator of Colette and Jacques Nivelle, specialists in stonewashed jeans. In the mid-1980s, he worked as an assistant to photographer Jean-Marie Périer in Los Angeles on the production of advertising films. He then became a journalist and later a producer at Ciby 2000, the company founded in 1990 by Francis Bouygues, and later at StudioCanal in the 2000s. It was through him that David Lynch, frustrated with the American production system that restricted his creative freedom, was able to make films in France—first with Ciby 2000 and later with StudioCanal, thanks to Edelman introducing him to Alain Sarde. Edelman produced Lynch’s work throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s, from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) and Lost Highway (1997) to Mulholland Drive (2001). The latter film came to fruition and became a cornerstone of the director’s filmography thanks to Edelman’s intervention. At StudioCanal at the time, he proposed to Lynch that he turn his failed ABC pilot into a feature film. Mulholland Drive would soon be ranked among the best films of the early 21st century. With Ciby 2000 and later StudioCanal, Edelman also produced films by Pedro Almodóvar, including High Heels (1991), The Flower of My Secret (1995), and All About My Mother (1999), as well as Underground by Emir Kusturica, which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1995. At an informal party on a Cannes beach after the Palme d’Or ceremony, Pierre Edelman defended Carole Bouquet when a fight broke out. Kusturica said of him: "I owe a lot to men like Pierre Edelman who put everything on the line so I could make Underground, especially since after the Arizona Dream scandal, I was blacklisted by the insurance companies." He dated Béatrice de Cambronne in the 1960s, was in a relationship with Bernadette Lafont in the early 1970s, Helena Kallianiotes at the end of the same decade, and later Victoria Abril, with whom he had two children in the 1990s. In the spring of 2023, he disappeared from public view. In March of that year, his disappearance was reported to the police in Paris’s 8th arrondissement by long-time friend, journalist, and essayist Guillaume Durand. During an investigation, the newspaper Le Monde tracked him down in May 2025 at a Paris nursing home, where he now resides after suffering a stroke. Ester Dean photo

Ester Dean

Cast · Known for Ice Age: Continental Drift, Trolls World Tour

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, but raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ester Dean was the youngest of five children raised by her single mother Hester, in a low-income household. At a young age Dean learned how to channel her pain into her music, writing and channeling her emotions into songs. Creative writing served as Dean’s self-therapy, helping her cope with a hard life of poverty and bullying (inside and outside her home). Dean took to writing and singing as an escape from her small Oklahoma town with no glimpses of a positive future. At the age of 15, Dean and her sister Deandria moved to Omaha, Nebraska; leaving her older siblings in Tulsa. The separation made Dean dig deeper for a connection, finding solace in music and the local music scene. Singing in every studio, writing for local rappers and producers, Dean unknowingly grass-rooted herself. Learning the ins and outs of her talent and creativity, at 20 years old Dean made a bold move and left Omaha with only $500 in her pocket. She drove 18 hours, alone, to Atlanta, Georgia with dreams of breaking into the music industry. She sang for anyone who would listen. While at a Gap Band concert, music producer Tricky Stewart overheard Dean singing in the crowd along with the band. He immediately asked her to set up a meeting. While going through her catalog of songs, Tricky was impressed by not only her voice but also her songwriting ability. He signed her to a small publishing deal that allowed Dean to grow and connect with other known writers and producers. This opportunity provided Dean with the tools, tricks, and skills to writing potential Top 40 songs. Although her time with Tricky was a significant point in her career, Dean eventually parted ways and relocated to Los Angeles, California. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, Dean began to build a name in the songwriting world. She was eventually introduced to Polow da Don, and later signed to Zone 4 Records/Interscope Records. In 2009 Dean released her first single, "Drop It Low", which peaked at number 38 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first US Top 40 single. Dean's big break came when she collaborated with super producers Stargate, creating her first number one single, Rihanna’s "Rude Boy". She went on to write "What's My Name", "Where Have You Been" and several other Rihanna hits, as well as Katy Perry's "Firework" and Nicki Minaj’s "Super Bass". She would go on to be named ‘The Song Machine’ in John Seabrook's The New Yorker article. Outside of music, Dean has been able to establish herself as a voice-over talent. She landed roles in Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and Rio (2011). After making a great impression in the voice-over world, Dean was asked to audition for a small part in an upcoming movie about a girl A cappella group. She jumped at the chance to audition and landed the role of Cynthia Rose in the hit movie Pitch Perfect (2012), which also lead to her co-starring in Pitch Perfect 2 (2015).

Richard Young photo

Richard Young

Cast · Known for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Richard Young (born in 1955 in Kissimmee, Florida) is an American actor who spent most of his career as a blandly competent, mostly-supporting player in various films and on television. Young began his career in the early 70s with TV guest spots and in Roger Corman's New World exploitation films like Fly Me and Night Call Nurses (both 1972). He went on to many other TV appearances, leading up to recurring roles on shows like Flamingo Road and Texas in the early 80s. Parts in higher profile films like High Risk (1981) and The Ice Pirates (1984) followed suit. Young is perhaps best known for his small role in the opening sequence of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) as "Fedora," the leader of the tomb-robbers who chases the young Indiana Jones then gives the young Jones his own fedora which later becomes Jones' hat. That same year he had a decent supporting role in the prison-set action / drama An Innocent Man alongside Tom Selleck. He also had top-billed starring roles in 'B' action films like Final Mission (1984) and Saigon Commandos (1988), and a supporting part in the Corman production Lords of the Deep (1989), one of many films hoping to cash-in on all the hype behind The Abyss. Horror fans know Young as the friendly psychiatrist Matt, who gets a spike driven through his forehead, in the fifth installment of the Friday the 13th series. Likewise, starring in the big budget international bomb Eye of the Widow (1991), which took three years to produce and wasn't even released in the U.S., seemed to drive a spike through his career as a leading man. Outside of a couple of TV appearances, he hasn't been seen in anything since.

Bugsy Siegel photo

Bugsy Siegel

Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel (/ˈsiːɡəl/; February 28, 1906 – June 20, 1947) was a Jewish-American mobster who was a driving force behind the development of the Las Vegas Strip. Siegel was influential within the Jewish Mob, along with his childhood friend and fellow gangster Meyer Lansky, the Italian-American Mafia, and the largely Italian-Jewish National Crime Syndicate. Described as "handsome" and "charismatic," Siegel became one of the first front-page celebrity gangsters. Siegel was one of the founders and leaders of Murder, Inc. and became a bootlegger during American Prohibition. After the Twenty-first Amendment was passed in 1933 repealing Prohibition, he turned to illegal gambling. In 1936, Siegel left New York and moved to California. His time as a mobster during this period was mainly as a hitman and muscle, as he was noted for his prowess with guns and violence. In 1941, Siegel was tried for the murder of friend and fellow mobster Harry Greenberg, who had turned informant; he was acquitted in 1942. Siegel traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he handled and financed some of the city's original casinos. He assisted developer William R. Wilkerson's Flamingo Hotel after Wilkerson ran out of funds. Siegel assumed control of the project and managed the final stages of construction. The Flamingo opened on December 26, 1946, in a three-day event that was well received. Without a hotel to accompany the casino, the Flamingo struggled and closed from February 6 until the hotel reopened March 1, 1947. Siegel’s mob partners were convinced that an estimated US$1 million of the construction budget overrun had been skimmed by Siegel, his girlfriend Virginia Hill or by both of them. On June 20, 1947, Siegel was shot dead at the age of 41 by a sniper through the window of Hill's Linden Drive mansion in Beverly Hills, California.
