Amazon MGM Studios has officially unveiled the first trailer for Madden, the upcoming biographical film centered on the life and legacy of legendary football coach, broadcaster, and cultural icon John Madden. The trailer debuted during Prime Video’s Christmas Day NFL broadcast, instantly capturing attention from both sports fans and movie audiences.

Directed by David O. Russell, Madden charts the remarkable journey of a man who reshaped American football on and off the field. From his Super Bowl–winning tenure as head coach of the Oakland Raiders to his unmistakable presence in the broadcast booth, the film aims to portray the full scope of Madden’s influence on the sport.

Nicolas Cage takes on the title role, delivering a striking transformation that channels Madden’s larger-than-life personality, intensity, and passion for the game. The trailer teases moments from Madden’s coaching career, his transition into broadcasting, and the early days of what would become the iconic Madden NFL video game franchise.

The supporting cast includes Christian Bale as Raiders owner Al Davis, depicting the complex relationship that shaped one of football’s most successful eras. John Mulaney appears as Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins, highlighting the unexpected but pivotal role Madden played in gaming history. Kathryn Hahn and Sienna Miller round out the ensemble, portraying key figures in the personal lives of Madden and Davis.

Set to premiere on Prime Video on Thanksgiving Day 2026, Madden positions itself as both a celebration of football history and an intimate character study of a one-of-a-kind figure. The newly released trailer suggests a film that blends sports drama, personal ambition, and cultural impact — offering a tribute to a name that became synonymous with the game itself.
