نشأ الممثل البريطانى إدريس إلبا فى مدينة كاننج شرق لندن. عمل فى العديد من الأعمال التليفزيونية. بدأ حياته المهنية كمنسق أسطوانات (DJ) بمساعدة عمه فى حفلات الزفاف وذلك فى عام 1986، و خلال عام كون شركته الخاصة مع بعض أصدقائه. ترك المدرسة فى عام 1988، وفاز بمكان فى مسرح الموسيقى الوطني للشباب. عمل إلبا فى الملاهي الليلية تحت إسم مستعار وهو (DJ Big Driis) فى عام 1991، كما عمل إلبا في مصنع فورد فى داجينهام بلندن وذلك عام 1989. وأثناء وجودة فى المدرسة الثانوية لقى تشجيعا من مدرس الدراما بعدها عمل فى العديد من الأعمال التليفزيونية. من أعماله: فيلم Finding Dory[2016] فيلم Thor: Ragnarok[2017] فيلم The Jungle Book[2016] فيلم Avengers: Age of Ultron[2015] فيلم Thor: The Dark World[2013].
